A Black Country manufacturer has acquired a Scottish firm to help it broaden its range of products.
Smithwick-based Metpro, which was founded in 1995 and supplies components to the UK mechanical and electrical markets, has bought out Edinburgh outfit Demon Cato in an undisclosed deal.
Demon Cato's directors, who are retiring post-completion, were responsible for the invention, innovation and manufacturing of a new range of conduit boxes and couplers.
Metpro's managing director Mark Fiddy said: "Having been involved in the success of this great brand as its manufacturing partner since its inception, we are thrilled at the opportunity to build on this legacy and continue to provide the same levels of product quality and service that customers expect.
"A key aspect of our growth strategy and commitment to providing ongoing support to the industry, we will be adopting the Demon Cato product range as our innovations brand.
"We are continually looking to expand and improve our product and service offering and have significant plans to enhance the Demon Cato range even further in the near future.
"We would like to thank (Demon Cato's owners) Mike Mearns, Dave Fairfull and Scott Cunliffe for trusting Metpro and giving us the fantastic opportunity to continue building the brand."
Accountancy firm Crowe advised Metpro on the deal.
Corporate finance partner Andy Kay added: "This is a very good strategic buy for Metpro as the innovative products developed by Demon Cato augment the current product range of the business and will enable further growth.
"As the economy opens up and accelerates again post-pandemic, we are seeing increasing opportunities for our clients to make strategic acquisitions to support their growth plans."
