Black cat on ‘Monday Night Football’ is a MetLife Stadium resident

A black cat scampered onto the field at MetLife Stadium during the second quarter of a game between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys on Monday night and immediately went viral.

The frisky feline caused a short delay in the game as it dashed side to side and up and down the field, frantically looking for an exit. It drew the loudest cheers of the night from the New York fans and inspired an epic call courtesy of broadcaster Kevin Harlan.

But where did this cat come from? How did it get into the stadium? And where the heck did it go when it finally escaped behind a wall?

As it turns out, the nameless cat is a resident of MetLife Stadium, sharing a space under the bleachers with a pack of other strays that are taken care of by the stadium grounds crew and staff.

How this residency came to be is still unclear, but after becoming an instant sensation, MetLife Stadium has vowed to locate the cat and ensure it’s in tip-top shape.

Whether or not the feline and his friends continue to call MetLife Stadium home remains to be seen, but given that the Giants were outscored 34-9 after he made an appearance, perhaps he’ll give Jerry Jones a ring to see if he’s got anything for rent down at Jerruh World.

In the meantime, his 15 minutes of fame will continue.
