Black cat from Monday Night Football is still on the lam

The New York Giants and the MetLife Stadium crew have been on the prowl, but to date, they’ve been unable to locate the black cat that interrupted a Monday Night Football game between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys, becoming an instant viral sensation.

Immediately following the conclusion of the Giants’ Week 9 loss to Dallas, the MetLife Stadium staff set out to locate the cat and bring it to a local veterinarian to ensure its health, but as of Wednesday evening, their efforts have yielded no results.

Additionally, MetLife Stadium has set out to correct erroneous media reports suggesting they house upwards of 300 feral cats, noting that there are roughly 30 cats on the Meadowlands grounds and nearly all are barn cats from Meadowland Racetrack where a TNR program is in place to keep them fed.

The black cat ran out onto the field during the second quarter of Monday Night Football, delaying the game for roughly 10 minutes before sprinting behind an open second of wall and vanishing into the night like Batman.

Since the cat’s appearance, there have been various mocumentaries created in its honor, including a hilarious episode of “A Football Life.”

The hope remains that the cat can be located, taken care of and sent into a happy retirement alongside the Bronx Zoo Cobra, the Minnesota Twins Squirrel and the Yellow Mets Parakeet.
