Black Adam trailer: Marvel fans say 'Iron Man', 'Black Panther' were blueprints for Dwayne Johnson starrer; share strikingly similar scenes

Dwayne Johnson, on Wednesday, dropped the first official trailer of his upcoming DC anti-hero film 'Black Adam'. While DC Comics couldn't hold back their excitement, Marvel fans couldn't help but spot similarities between scenes in the trailer to older MCU films.

Fans took to Twitter to allege "Iron Man is the blueprint." Sharing videos of the 2008 Marvel film starring Robert Downey Jr side-by-side with the new trailer, many on the micro blogging app could not believe their eyes at how similar the scenes from the two films were.

"Good to see some scenes from #BlackAdam taking inspiration from 'Black Panther', 'The Avengers', 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' and 'Iron Man'," said another.

"This definitely feels like a rif on the scene from the first Iron Man," another said while sharing screenshots from both film trailers.

'Black Adam' has wrestler-turned-Hollywood superstar Dwayne Johnson as the powerful anti-hero and sworn nemesis of Shazam. After more than a decade in development, the film will release this October. Johnson was originally set to enter the DCEU in the 2019 Zachary Levi film, but his role was scrapped when the spinoff for his character was greenlit in 2017.

In October 2021, Johnson debuted a first look at the film on Twitter -- which showed Black Adam breaking out of imprisonment after 5,000 years of captivity. "This character, this film, this universe has been a gigantic passion project of mine for a very long time," Johnson said in the October video. "And the truth is, I was born to play Black Adam."

The film will also introduce members of the 'Justice Society of America', an iconic group quite similar to the Justice League.

The superhero cast has Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate. The others are Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui, Mo Amer and Uli Latukefu, plus the villainous group, Intergang, will also appear in the film.
