BK Hacken scouted as Aberdeen foes boast serious pace but Scott Brown could expose weak point

BK Hacken will square off against Aberdeen a completely different team compared to when the draw was made – and at Record Sport we've taken a deep dive into the data to find out the Swedes' shape, strengths and weaknesses.

Hacken were languishing at the bottom of the league but before experienced Per-Mathias Hogmo took over the reins and steered them on a continual upward trajectory.

They're looking for another strong finish in the Allsvenskan having qualified for tonight's Europa Conference League clash at Pittodrie on the back of last year's successes.

Statistical analysis platform InStat has all the numbers so we ran Stephen Glass' Thursday night opposition through the website and compared Hogmo's men to the current-day Dons.

The first obvious observation is that Alexander Jeremejeff should be closely watched at all times – because he is a serious goal threat.

Despite drifting around with giants Malmo and abroad at Twente and Dynamo Dresden, his best stints have always been in Hacken's black and yellow.

With 10 goals in 14 games, you can't take your eye off the Sweden internationalist for a second. He's tall with great movement and an adept penalty taker. New defender Declan Gallagher will have a big task to keep him quiet.

He'll likely be partnered by Benie Traore, a pacy attacker that loves to drift wide and stretch defences.

The main players behind them are midfielder Gustave Berggren and central defender Johan Hammer, who are both physical and strong.

Hacken generally go 4-2-3-1 but sometimes opt for a more traditional 4-4-2 line-up.

Aberdeen, meanwhile, have gone for a number of different shapes as Glass gets to grips with his team.

The most striking characteristic is that Hacken have scored 27 goals in this period to Aberdeen's 10 as the misfiring Dons struggled up top last term.

The Gothenburg-based side have had more shots on target and have a better conversation rate.

Glass will be hoping that the introduction of US striker Christian Ramirez and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas will give the Reds far more of a cutting edge.

BK Hacken are a tall and physical side but the stats for their games this year show the Dons are more aggressive and have won more tackles. That will only be boosted with the introduction of new captain Scott Brown.

Aberdeen are shown to be more successful with the high press with a 52 per cent success-rate with Hacken 11 per cent behind.

The Swedes have a better pass completion rate of 82 per cent compared to the 78 per cent of the Swedes.

Aberdeen are a lot more dangerous out wide too with the likes of Jonny Hayes and Ryan Hedges contributing to an attempted crosses rate that is double that of their opponents.

A lot of BK Hacken’s threat comes through their middle or from their right hand side. They are not as strong on the left and prefer to play on the counter attack with the pace of Jeremejeff and Traore.

The visitors will also be dangerous from set pieces as 42 per cent of their dead ball plays have ended with an effort on target.
