BJP yearns to rule Telangana, but people reject it, says Harish Rao

HYDERABAD: Telangana finance minister T Harish Rao said on Monday that the BJP at the national executive committee meeting and public rally spewed venom against chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and were yearning for 'double-engine' government in Telangana, but the people of Telangana are not keen for saffron rule.

Talking to reporters along with Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy and other leaders, Harish said instead of discussing schemes and developments in Telangana, BJP leaders were spreading lies.

"The chief ministers of 18 states, who participated in their party meeting could not say that schemes implemented in their respective states were unique or superior to the schemes in Telangana," he said.

Reacting sharply to the Union home minister Amit Shah's claims on paucity of water, recruitment and funds in Telangana, Harish said, "BJP leaders can go to any part of the state and check if people were provided irrigation water or not. If not with irrigation facilities, how could the paddy yield touch 2 crore metric tons?" On recruitments, the minister said the state government filled 2.5 lakh jobs in eight years and has now released a job calendar. "The Centre should tell the country when they will fill 16.5 lakh jobs."
