JAIPUR: State BJP leaders have termed Rahul Gandhi's speech comparing 'Hindu and Hinduwadi' a result of his lack of knowledge on the ancient religion. The leaders claimed that he spoke on everything, but nothing on price rise, which was the central theme.
"Hinduism is a way of life. For every Indian and Hindu, following Hindutva is a matter of pride. Maharana Pratap and Shivaji Maharaj, who took on the Mughals, and others who challenged the British were Hinduwadis. Rahul is known for making such statements and this appeared to be an extension of such statements," said Poonia in a video statement. Calling the rally an attempt to divide Hindus, he said, "The attempt made by Rahul has reduced the chances of his party. The statement is anti-Hindu, Hindutva and nationalism," said Poonia.
Taking a dig at the attendance of the rally, deputy leader of the opposition, Rajendra Singh Rathore, said tall claims of lakhs of people attending the rally had fallen flat. "There were 24,000 chairs in the stadium, which proves it was a flop show," said Rathore.
He quoted the definition of Hindutva by Supreme Court to counter Rahul's statement. "The SC in 2005 had called the Hindutva a way of life," he said.
