KALYAN: Once again, an internal dispute has surfaced between the Shiv Sena (Shinde) faction and the BJP, this time at the local level in the twin cities of Kalyan-Dombivli.
During a recent visit by Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to meet BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad in Kalyan, local BJP leaders voiced complaints against the Thane police for allegedly favoring the Shinde faction leader and discriminating against BJP workers.
At the meeting held at MLA Gaikwad's residence, Kalyan's BJP district president, Nana Suryawanshi, brought up concerns to Fadnavis, alleging that the Kalyan zone police were unfair to BJP workers.
Suryavanshi informed reporters, "During the meeting with Deputy CM Fadnavis, we pointed out that a recent incident involved an attack on a BJP worker, Manohar Patil, by Duryodhan Patil, a former corporator from the Shinde group. Despite filing an FIR, the police did not arrest the accused."
Suryawanshi emphasized, "We expect the police to work impartially and ensure justice for all. However, it appears that in Kalyan, they are unjust towards BJP workers. This is why we raised the issue with Fadnavis, who also serves as the State Home Minister." The BJP also raised concerns with Fadnavis about the alleged lack of priority given to BJP MLAs and leaders in Thane District when it comes to the allocation of funds by the District Planning Development Committee.
Party leaders stated that after hearing the problems raised by party workers, Fadnavis assured them that he would investigate their complaints. It's worth noting that the BJP has previously accused the police of pursuing false cases against BJP workers in Dombivli under pressure from the Shinde faction leader, leading to clashes between both party leaders at the local level.
