BJP knows nothing about Chhattisgarh, says CM Bhupesh Baghel

RAIPUR: Taking a dig at opposition BJP for playing "Gothan" politics in the state, Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday said that the BJP can ask votes in the name of "Gaumata" (cow) but has never served it.

"The BJP knows nothing about Chhattisgarh. Cows are not found in Gothans in the afternoon especially in summer, rather they return to their shelter in the evening and the BJP leaders are visiting the Gothans in the afternoon,” said the chief minister stated this while addressing the gathering at the ‘Bharose Ka Sammelan’ organised at his home constituency Patan on Sunday to mark the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

The chief minister transferred Rs 2,800 crore in the accounts of beneficiaries of various government-run schemes, benefiting farmers, labourers, self-help groups, landless agricultural labourers, youths etc.

Hitting out at BJP for alleging rampant corruption in Gothan, the chief minister said, “Friends from BJP are not finding cattle in Gothans. We people of Chhattisgarh know that in summer season cattle are let loose. They do not stay in homes in noon hours but come back in the evening.”

The BJP does politics over cows but has never served it. Recalling the mass death of cattle during BJP rule in Chhattisgarh, the chief minister wanted to know the exact number of cows died in Dashrangpur. The siphoned the fodder money, the Chief Minister said.

Chhattisgarh Congress in-charge Kumari Selja said that the time to uproot BJP has begun.

"I can see the dream of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi taking shape here in Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh model is hailed everywhere and it is the result of the hard work done by our government in the last and a half years” she said.
