HUBBALLI: BJP seems to be gearing up for the forthcoming assembly elections, going by the marathon meetings of its local office bearers held here on Monday.
BJP’s divisional level party office bearers’ meeting began in the morning and will continue on Tuesday when state unit president Nalin Kumar Kateel will also participate.
On Monday, BJP state organising secretary Arunkumar, minister V Somanna, former chief minister Jagadish Shettar and others attended the meeting in which office bearers from Haveri, Dharwad and Gadag of undivided Dharwad district took part.
Shettar said the meeting was very important from the point of party organisation and for future elections. All major issues, both positive and negative, steps to strengthen the party and other matters are being discussed, he added.
Similar meetings have already been held in Bengaluru, Mysuru and Ballari. Today, we are evaluating each assembly constituency with both organising aspects and also with a political point of view, he said.
Minister Shankar Patil Munenakoppa said many issues pertaining to the party organisational activities were discussed in the meeting. Dismissing rumours of early polls, he said, “There is no chance of early elections in the state and the Basavaraj Bommai-led government will complete its full term.”
According to sources, Dharwad division office bearers and senior leaders have suggested that workers focus on strengthening the party ahead of the assembly elections in 2023 and explain to the people the the people friendly programmes of the BJP government in the state and also in the Center by going door-to-door, sources added.
