PRAYAGRAJ: With Droupadi Murmu taking oath of the 15th President of the country, the activities of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district unit are all set to distribute around 5,000 portraits of Droupadi Murmu in city’s slums, trans-Ganga, trans-Yamuna and tribal dominated areas.
The party leadership wants to deliver the message across the region wherever there is a considerable population of SCs, STs, that the party’s top priority was the welfare of the poor, down trodden and tribals.
The district BJP unit including party’s SC/ST morchas have started distributing the portrait of Droupadi Murmu in identified pockets mostly in the slums and tribal-dominated areas in the district once Murmu’s swearing-in ceremony was over.
The entire BJP leadership including SC/ST morchas celebrated the victory of Droupadi Murmu by cutting cakes, distributing sweets, and bursting fireworks at BJP party offices.
Senior BJP leader and media in-charge, Rajesh Kesarwani told TOI, “Once Droupadi Murmu took oath of President of the country on Monday, the BJP district unit organised a free corona vaccination camp at party’s Kydganj office and as many as 1,242 recipients of all age groups were given precautionary dose.
Besides, 633 recipients were also jabbed. A cultural event was also organised in city under the banner of BJP Mahanagar unit and celebrated the day as Vijay Utsav”.
The district BJP unit had on Sunday installed the portrait of 15th president of the country, Droupadi Murmu at party’s district headquarter in Civil Lines. Kesarwani, meanwhile, said, “BJP workers will install the portrait of Droupadi Murmu at all 1,297 booths in the Mahanagar unit.
Besides, party workers and leaders including SC\ST morcha have started distributing around 5,000 portraits of Droupdi Murmu among the residents living in slums and backward areas from Monday onwards.
Insiders told TOI that party is aiming to garner support from SC, ST and tribal communityin view of 2024 parliamentary polls as Droupadi Murmu has become the first tribal woman, second woman and youngest President of the country.
