Bjork announced as headliner for Bluedot festival in UK exclusive

Cheshire's Bluedot festival has confirmed that Bjork will return as headliner for next summer's huge event.

The singer-songwriter sensation will top the bill on the Sunday night in 2022, after the popular festival was cancelled two years on the trot.

Bluedot will take place at Jodrell Bank between July 21 and 24, 2022, bringing together the worlds of music and science once again in a family-friendly extravaganza.

Bjork's performance will be a UK festival exclusive and she'll deliver an audio-visual spectacle, complete with animations projected onto the 76-metre-wide Lovell Telescope for the first time.

She'll be joined by The Halle Orchestra at the the UNESCO World Heritage site.

Bjork, whose career spans over four decades, has put together the arrangements for the ground-breaking performance.

Festival director Ben Robinson said: "After the postponements of the last two summers we wanted to return with something extra special and unique.

"We spoke to Björk’s team about curating visuals to accompany the show and being the first confirmed artists to project onto the surface of the Lovell Telescope at bluedot festival.

"Björk and her team are already working on this unique spectacle and we are incredibly grateful for their enthusiasm for making the closing set of bluedot’s return truly unique."

Bluedot was cancelled in 2020 because of the pandemic, and bosses reluctantly pulled the plug on 2021's event too, saying the Government had 'refused to step up'.

In 2019 it was named the best medium-sized festival at the UK Festival Awards.

Bluedot attracts hundreds of artists and speakers across its stages and will return for its fifth edition next summer.

Limited day and weekend tickets will go on sale this Friday, September 3, at 10am from discoverthebluedot.com.
