Bizzare moment ‘Mr Broccoli’ branded ‘idiot’ on GMB - 'This is a joke!'

A protester identifying as a broccoli left viewers baffled after appearing on Good Morning Britain to make plant-based jokes.

The giant broccoli was interviewed on the show after being arrested during an Animal Rebellion protest and shouting ‘give peas a chance!’

Mr Broccoli repeatedly called Piers Morgan ‘peas’ during the interview, which annoyed co-host Susanna Reid.

She asked the broccoli: “Without any comedy, are you a plant? Because your argument dressed up as broccoli strikes me as so absurd. You’re wearing a costume but you’re trying to get a serious point across about veganism.”

Mr Broccoli attempted to defend his unusual appearance, saying: “I hear what you’re saying and we are in extremely hot water about this.

“It’s going to go pear-shaped.”

Susanna lost her rag with the protester, saying: “This is a joke!”

When Piers asked about the “signs” of being in hot water, he replied: “I’m just a broccoli at the end of the day.”

The protester then bizarrely whipped out a banana from his jacket, and said: “Sorry, I’ve just got a call.”

Piers then branded Mr Broccoli an ‘idiot’ and argued that the protester could have made a ‘very powerful, science-based argument’ on the show.

He said: “To come on here and just be an idiot, makes us think you’re just an idiot!”

Baffled viewers took to Twitter, with one wondering if they were ‘drunk’ while watching Mr Broccoli’s interview.

One tweeted: “You know the worlds gone mad when Mr Broccoli is on the news.”

Another said: “Finally we are getting some heavyweight intellectuals behind the climate change and vegan movements. We should believe the science, which is why Mr. Broccoli is in to stem subjects.”
