Bizarre way Julio Iglesias was unmasked as dad of secret lovechild, 42, after 30 years

Javier Sanchez-Santos has opened up about the way he and his lawyers managed to finally prove that Julio Iglesias was his dad after a 30-year battle.

Earlier this month, a Spanish court ruled that Julio was the love child of the Spanish singer - despite refusing to offer a DNA sample.

Appearing in his first British TV interview on Good Morning Britain today, Javier told hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard the way they had managed to prove he was Julio's son.

Revealing that he hired a detective to follow his brother in Miami, he said: "He forgot this bottle of water and he got it from that."

"Like something from a film," Ben said, shocked.

"We brought it to Spain and it was a match," Javier continued. "That's when we took the case to the court."

Opening up about the difficult process, Javier said that it was harder for his mum as no one believed her.

"My mum started this back in the 90s. It was very very hard for her because my father at the time had so much power," he explained. "So my mum's reputation was destroyed."

Javier revealed that things got so dark for his mum that she even tried to kill herself.

"I saw my mum try to take her life away," he said. "I found her on the floor, I think I was 15 or 16 years old."

Javier said that when he was younger he used to hate his dad because of "all the damage he'd caused his mum". But now that he was married and had a baby on the way, his perspective had changed and that he just wanted to meet his dad for "five minutes".

Probed about the suggestion he was only after money from his dad, he insisted that he wasn't and was used to a humble life.

"I've always had a humble life, I don't need money," he said. "There's no money that can pay my mum's happiness."
