Bizarre Scots supermarket raider makes off with BBQ and hedge trimmers during early morning break-in

A police manhunt has been launched for a supermarket raider who made off with a bizarre haul of goods during an early morning break-in.

Police say the man forced entry to the Morrisons store on Mart Street in Hawick at around 3.10am on Saturday, July 3.

Enquiries have revealed that he stole a BBQ, hedge trimmers, razor blades and children’s clothes before fleeing the scene.

The suspect is described as being in his 40s, of a medium build and was wearing dark clothing including a face covering.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who may have information about the robbery to get in touch.

Detective Sergeant Jamie Gilmore, of Galashiels CID, said: "We are appealing to members of the public who may have information in relation to the break in at Morrisons supermarket in the early hours of this morning.

“I would also ask those who were in the area around the time of the incident and have any dashcam footage that may assist with our investigation to get in touch.

“Anyone with information should contact police via 101, quoting incident number 0706 of 3 July.”
