Bizarre Rick Astley footage filmed in Dumfries sees him recreate viral Calvin Harris clip

Rick Astley has travelled to Scotland to make a spoof of a bizarre video DJ Calvin Harris made before he was famous.

The Never Gonna Give You Up singer visited Calvin's hometown Dumfries to recreate the wacky video the musician made in 2008.

The original five minute long clip shows a youthful, shaggy-haired Calvin, 35, telling viewers how to make his trademark glasses nicknamed 'fly eyes' - also the name of his record label.

In a particularly strange moment he pours bleach inside a raw chicken and throws it into the sea.

The video caused a stir when it first surfaced following Harris' rise to fame - but yesterday eighties pop icon Rick Astley took the bizarre move of travelling to Dumfries and recreating it.

Astley posted the video on his YouTube channel, alongside the caption: "I always loved Calvin Harris's 'Calvin in Dumfries' video so I decided to make my own."

In the almost identical video uploaded to Rick's YouTube channel, the 53-year-old visits the exact same spots as Calvin, including the Dumfries sea front and a shoe shop.

Both Calvin and Rick can be seen purchasing chickens from a supermarket in their videos and pouring bleach inside them, before throwing them into the sea and telling viewers to lie back and let the sea do the work.

Both then pull a box of cracker breads from the sea.

They then purchase a pair of black leather shoes and put some cracker breads inside one shoe - before setting fire to it.

The flaming shoe is then thrown in the river, before turning up outside a church.

The 'magic' shoe is then taken to a kitchen and placed inside an oven where it's cooked and turned into the iconic glasses.

Fans were baffled by the YouTube clip after it was uploaded by Astley.

Fan Sam McClintock said: "Why did I just watch Rick Astley huck a whole chicken into the ocean?"
