Bizarre reason Man City star Bernardo Silva STILL has Christmas tree up

It may be approaching the apex of summer, with the festive period nearly six months behind us, but Man City star Bernardo Silva STILL has his Christmas tree up - and he's suggested it's brought City luck this season, which is why it's still standing.

If it has then City certainly have a lot to thank Bernardo for, and not just his sublime performances on the pitch.

City became the first mens team in English football history to secure a domestic treble this past season after claiming the Carabao Cup, Premier League and FA Cup in a remarkable campaign.

Pep Guardiola's side have dominated the nation with their incredible football but they still had big slices of luck along the way, be it John Stones' goal-line clearance against Liverpool, Sergio Aguero's winner against Burnley going in by millimetres or winning two penalty shoot-outs.

Bernardo's tree went up at the right time at least, for Christmas, but fans were puzzled to see that it was still up two months later.

The Portuguese midfielder posted a photo of it on Instagram with the caption: "Happy Christmas everyone!! I mean Valentine’s day. Does anyone wanna help me putting down this tree?? Otherwise it’s staying up."

It appears that no body offered a helping hand as more than three months later it is still standing tall in his living room.

He posted on Instagram on Tuesday yet another snap of the pine, writing: "Bad luck?? It's staying up!!!" accompanied with four trophy emojis, to suggest the tree has played a helping hand in City's unprecedented trophy haul.

At this rate it's going to be Christmas again before it's finally put away, but if it is bringing City some luck along the way, why not leave it?
