Bizarre petition for Arsenal star Shkodran Mustafi closes in on 1,000 signatures

Shkodran Mustafi should be in prison, well that's according to some Arsenal supporters.

Whilst it is a massive overreaction to what was a disaster of a performance from the German in the 3-2 defeat against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, it's clear that his standing amongst the fanbase has reached an all-time low.

So much so that one Gunners supporter has started a petition on Change.org asking 'life imprisonment' of Mustafi.

Every moment Shkodran Mustafi has cost Unai Emery this season to show he must leave Arsenal

The petition reads: "A man by the name of Shkodran Mustafi has been fooling a football club into paying him over £90,000 for broadcasting very disturbing content hidden in football matches.

"He is single-handedly responsible for millions of dollars of broken appliances like televisions and mobile devices, and there have been some cases of suicides related to him.

"There MUST be an investigation into the matter. I have been affected massively by this fiasco, and I really couldn’t find any other solution."

As of now, over 600 people have signed the petition and judging by the reaction on social media during and after the game at the Emirates Stadium, that number is sure to increase by the close of play.

Mustafi was arguably at fault for all three goals against Palace and it remains to be seen just how costly his errors are in the north London outfit's attempts to seal a top four spot.

As things stand, Unai Emery's side will return to the Champions League should they win all four of their remaining Premier League games.

However, three of those - beginning with a trip to Wolves on Wednesday night - are away from home and the Gunners' struggles on the road this season are well documented.

With Sokratis available again after suspension and Nacho Monreal expected to return after being rested against the Eagles, it could mean that Mustafi is dropped to the bench at Molineux Stadium.

If not and he retains his place in the starting XI, it will be interesting to hear the response he gets from the travelling support.
