Bizarre moment woman calls 999 over fiery chicken korma

Emergency services were forced to deal with an unorthodox 999 call after a woman suffered ill effects from a curry.

In a recording of the incident, the woman can be heard telling a Cambridgeshire Police call handler that she’d eaten some chicken korma and now her “a***s is on fire”.

She continues: “I need the paramedics because I think I’m going to be on the toilet for three hours."

She then yells: “This is not a prank call. My a*** is on fire.”

The calm respondent replies: “OK, don’t you think you need to call the medical team then?” before the call cuts off.

Cambridgeshire Police superintendent Mike Branston responded to the eyebrow-raising call by urging the public to think before contacting emergency services.

He said: “We need people to think before they call us and only dial 999 in a genuine emergency.”

Last month a man who repeatedly called the force and belched down the phone line was jailed for 24 weeks.
