Three surprising Emmerdale residents will be involved in a bizarre love triangle after an unusual misunderstanding next week.
Wendy Posner and Bob Hope have been dancing around their feelings for one another ever since they met.
But it goes a bit wrong when Wendy decides to confess her feelings - only, her way of doing so sparks mayhem.
Enter Rishi, who is considerably alarmed when he reads what appears to be a letter from Wendy confessing her love for him.
But, unbeknownst to him, the letter was actually intended for Bob (Tony Audenshaw).
"Wendy works at the surgery with Manpreet and confides her feelings about Bob to her," explained actor Tony. "Manpreet becomes distracted when she is putting the love letter in Bob’s middle-aged men health-check envelope and puts it in her husband Rishi’s instead. Ouch."
Rishi ends up showing Bob the letter and he is stunned.
"It’s a lovely letter about harbouring feelings for someone and politely wondering if the other person feels the same way," Tony said. "He’s feels foolish that he thought he had a chance and is hurt and a bit jealous that it’s one of his mates she’s fallen for.
"The fact she’d rather see a married man than him stings too."
Later, Wendy is left wondering whether Bob has seen her letter and, after being encouraged to, goes to see him.
"She asks if he has seen the letter and what he thinks about its contents," Tony said. "He can’t believe she is being so brazen and blinkered to how he might feel when he has made it obvious, in the past, he’d like to take things further.
"He’s also had first-hand experience of how destructive an affair can be and is amazed she is being so flippant about the consequences of a relationship with Rishi, a married man."
Bob denies that he has any feelings for her anymore and Wendy is left devastated, biting back the tears.
Is it all over for Bob and Wendy?
