Bitten by Jaguar

The workers at Jaguar's Browns Lane plant in Coventry knew pretty well that Ford was going to effectively close their factory, home to the E-Type Jag, that sleek icon of the swinging 60s. The icCoventry website was there to get the reaction of the workers arriving for work. They were more resigned than angry.

Jaguar's cars have a fascinating history, laid out in minute detail on the company's website. Among the nuggets: Jaguar's founder, the legendary William Lyons, was initially not too keen on the name Jaguar, which was dreamt up by the company's ad agency. He came round eventually, putting the name on some of the world's most distinctive cars.

Grandprix.com focused on the fact that Jaguar was getting out of formula one, with the loss of 500 jobs.
