Feel like your brain has melted during lockdown – and the heat isn’t helping?
East End dining destination Bistrotheque is adding a little intellectual stimulation to lazy afternoons by sending a set of Scrabble along with the new picnic boxes it is now delivering to local parks.
The Bethnal Green hotspot has just launched a new delivery service sending its high-end picnic boxes to nearby parks for outdoor revellers, and is including a Scrabble set inside the first 20 boxes ordered.
Each picnic box costs £150, with £50 from each sale donated to Generating Genius, a charity which supports young people from BAME backgrounds looking to start careers in the worlds of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
As well as a synapse-tingling game of Scrabble, the sets also include a litre of spicy margarita cocktail, an onion and gruyere tart to serve four, two portions of the South American corn dish humita, two baby gem salads and four chocolate mousses.
The picnic sets are available from now until June 28, with deliveries made from 5pm to 9pm on Friday and Saturday, and from 11am to 3pm on Sunday.
The boxes can be delivered to eight locations across Victoria Park, Well Street Common and London Fields – all you have to do is drop the postcode into Google Maps, and the delivery driver will meet you at the pin.
“We LOVE (7 points) Scrabble and picnics (23 points),” said Bistrotheque owners Pablo Flack and David Waddington, “so to put the two together to help Generating (12 points) Genius (7 points) is extra fab.”
