The French restaurant chain Bistrot Pierre is set to close six sites across the country, including Cardiff.

The majority of restaurants have been saved by a new company through a pre-pack administration, according to the hospitality website Propel.

The other locations set to permanently close are Bath, Harrogate, Leicester, Middlesbrough and Sheffield. A total of 681 of the 803 workers will be re-employed, with 674 of them returning from furlough.

Nineteen of the 25 sites have either reopened or will shortly.

Chief executive Nick White together with existing backer Livingbridge and NatWest.

Mr White told  Propel : “Our goal has always been to protect as many jobs as possible and ensure this great brand can continue to serve its many loyal customers.

"The next few months will be challenging but we’re committed to delivering an outstanding experience for our customers and working with all stakeholders to create a positive future for Bistrot Pierre.”
