Birthday boy Piers Morgan hints at what he wants from Susanna Reid - her reaction says it all

If there’s anyone who can put Piers Morgan in his place, it’s his Good Morning Britain co-presenter Susanna Reid.

And today was no different when the loudmouth host, who is 54 on Saturday, was presented with a cake - or a pile of doughnuts with candles in - before hinting he was wishing for a night with Susanna.

“I think we all know what I’m going to be wishing for,” he winked as he went to blow out the candles.

A mortified Susanna replied: “That isn’t going to happen.”

The comment followed on from Piers earlier winding up his female counterpart after comparing their relationship to Spice Girls stars Mel B and Geri Horner.

Earlier this week the morning show aired an interview with Scary Spice where she admitted that she had slept with Ginger back in the band’s hayday.

Piers, who was chatting to her for lis Life Stories series, asked whether they had ever had sex, and Mel coyly smiled and nodded.

The motormouth presenter tried to replicate this by turning to Susanna and asked: "Do you think when someone gives an interview with you in a couple of years and there will be a moment where they say ‘did you and Piers ever…?

"And you’ll just go ahhh.”

Susanna was having none of it and forcefully shuck her head, replying: "Is that clear enough?"

Charlotte Hawkins was then dragged into it, with Piers giving her the role of Mel C, who looked on in shock from the audience when Mel B made the revelation.

Showbiz reporter Richard Arnold then chipped in, asking: "What will I be doing? Waking up with Ben [Shephard].”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am
