Birmingham Young Professional of the Year entry deadline extended

Entry to a business awards celebrating the achievements of young people in Birmingham's professional services sector has been extended as a result of the coronavirus crisis.

The deadline to enter the 20th Birmingham Young Professional of the Year Awards (BYPY) has been put back by four weeks to Monday April 20.

The annual awards will again recognise the best under 35s across six categories before choosing one of those as the overall winner for 2020.

And in a change from previous events, the usual May ceremony has been moved to June 4 and will be held at Villa Park instead of the ICC although that may be forced to change depending on government advice related to coronavirus..

A statement from Birmingham Future, the business network body which organises the awards, said: "Due to the recent developments with covid-19, we are committed to supporting our valued members. "We understand our members and their organisations are facing challenging times which include social distancing and working from home. "In light of this, we have taken the decision to extend the deadline to nominate yourself or your peers to 5pm on Monday April 20." The award categories are: - Finance - HR, Recruitment and Training - Legal - Marketing, Communications and Events - Property and Construction - Technology and Innovation There will again be an aspiring talent category for 16 to 24 years olds currently in education or training for a professional services career while a senior business figure in the city will be honoured as inspiring leader. Entries can be submitted via the Birmingham Future website.
