Birmingham trade body in ticket push for Christmas charity lunch

Organisers of a Christmas charity lunch are hoping to sell the last few remaining tickets after seeing places snapped up in record time.

Birmingham Publicity Association is hosting the December event in the city to raise funds for Acorns Children's Hospice which runs three centres for young people with life-limiting conditions in the West Midlands.

The association was founded in the 1930s and acts as a networking group for those working in the creative, media, marketing and advertising industries across Birmingham and the West Midlands and aims to deliver knowledge, networking and charity support through its calendar of events.

Its annual Christmas lunch had to be cancelled last year because of the pandemic but is set to return on December 3 at the Grand Hotel.

Chairman Mark McDonagh said: "We are just thrilled that we have had such interest in the tickets and we only have a few spaces left before we are fully booked for this year's event.

"As ever, and along with being great fun for all, we shall also be raising money for our chosen charity Acorns Children's Hospice.

"In 2019, we donated £10,000 to the cause and, although last year we weren't able to host any networking events, we still donated £7,500 following our festive advent calendar activity.

"We are hopeful to be able to donate a substantial amount this Christmas as we come to an end of our partnership with them.

It's always fantastic to be able to raise such a great amount of money so the more tickets we sell, the more we can donate, so we are urging people to dig deep."

The lunch is expected to attract more than 250 guests from across the city region - to enquire about tickets, email events@thisisthebpa.co.uk or visit the BPA website.
