Birmingham Star City: Gang film Blue Story banned from all Vue cinemas after machete brawl

Gang drama Blue Story has been banned from all Vue cinemas after a mass brawl broke out at a Birmingham cinema involving youths armed with machetes.

Families were visiting Star City to watchFrozen 2when the disorder broke out late on Saturday afternoon, sparking a mass evacuation of the complex.

Police said up to 100 teenagers were involved in the “major disorder” and officers were left with facial injuries. A 13-year-old girl is among the five teenagers who were arrested.

A recorded message on the cinema answerphone announces that Blue Story will no longer be screened at any of Vue’s venues.

The message from Vue said: "We regret that we will no longer be screening the film Blue Story at any of our venues.

"Should you have a booking for this film, please say cancellation when prompted and a member of our team will be with you shortly to assist you with your booking."

Blue Story is a London-set gangland drama about two friends from rival postcodes who are caught in a feud, it was directed by the rapper Rapman, real name Andrew Onwubolu.

The film, which stars Top Boy actor Micheal Ward, was rated a 15 and includes “very strong language, strong violence, threat, sex, drug misuse”.
