Birmingham's Malmaison hotel boosts senior team and more appointments news

A Birmingham city centre hotel has expanded its senior management team with two new hires.

Malmaison has recruited Emma Morgan as general manager and Luke Gallimore as her deputy.

Ms Morgan has several years of hospitality experience and joins Malmaison from Holiday Inn owner IHG Group in the South East.

In her new role, she will oversee daily management of the hotel, which employs 160 staff, and drive the overall strategy as well as day-to-day service delivery.

Mr Gallimore has 12 years of industry experience through spells with AccorHotels and Rub Smokehouse & Bars.

Ms Morgan said: "I am really excited to be back in my hometown.

"Malmaison Birmingham has always been a hotel that I've admired throughout my professional career and I am so pleased to have been appointed as the general manager of this iconic destination.

"My aim is to ensure we are the go-to venue in the city, delivering the highest levels of service and innovation across our bedrooms, meetings and events, and food and beverage offering."

West Midlands Growth Company has announced two appointments from the private sector to boost its promotional activity.

It has recruited Fiona Allan, artistic director and chief executive of Birmingham Hippodrome, as chairwoman for the Regional Board for Tourism.

Ms Allan will be overseeing the region's delivery of its £1 billion tourism strategy which launched in September.

Jason Wouhra, director of East End Foods, will be chairman for a new West Midlands India Partnership.

The new partnership will aim to target this market for more investment and visitors.

Law firm Irwin Mitchell has appointed a new partner in its family law team.

Zahra Pabani has joined the practice from Shakespeare Martineau and will divide her time between its Birmingham and London offices.

She has more than 20 years of experience advising on family and divorce law with a specialist interest in helping clients protect their wealth, having acted for professionals and high-net-worth individuals.

Dalriada Trustees, which provides independent trustee services to UK pension schemes, has appointed Charles Ward as a professional trustee.

He joins from the pensions advisory team at PwC and will be based in Dalriada's Birmingham office.

Mr Ward is a qualified actuary with almost 25 years of experience of advising companies and trustees on long-term pension scheme strategy and innovative funding, investment and benefit design projects.
