Birmingham office block to undergo £36m conversion

An office block in Birmingham is to be converted into apartments in a £36 million project

Equipoint, off the A45 in Yardley, will be regenerated to contain 247 apartments.

Birmingham-based Urban Village Group is leading the scheme at the 12-storey building where the units will be available for a mixture of open market sale and rent.

Equipoint will include a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments, with large on-site parking and a range of communal facilities.

Nick Sellman, chief executive of Urban Village Group, said: "We are enormously excited at the prospect of transforming one of our home city's major landmark office buildings into a fantastic development providing high-quality homes for hundreds of people.

"The scale of this development clearly illustrates our ambitions to become a major force in the private rented sector."

Solihull-based construction company MAC Group has been appointed to undertake the project at the 1960s complex.

Director Ray O'Sullivan said: "We've made a strong start to 2020, with our start on site for the Equipoint project.

"This is a significant development, transforming a well-known office building in a very prominent and well-connected location into much-needed homes."

Also working on the scheme are project manager and quantity surveyor PMP Consultants, structural engineer Nolan Associates and D5 Architects.
