Birmingham City seal Sam Cosgrove transfer and are ready to up Kevin Nisbet bid to Hibs

Birmingham have clinched the £2million signing of Aberdeen striker Sam Cosgrove and are considering going back in with an improved £2.25 million offer for Hibs star Kevin Nisbet.

Record Sport revealed that the Blues had made their move for Cosgrove and he was given permission to travel to the Midlands for a medical and to complete his switch.

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes is already on the search for a replacement and Ross County ace Ross Stewart is his top target.

Scotland Under-21 cap Fraser Hornby from Reims is amongst the loan options he is looking at if a deal for Stewart can’t be struck.

The English Championship club have also held talks with Hibs to land their top scorer Nisbet but have been unable to strike a deal so far - although an improved offer is likely to be tabled before Monday’s deadline.

Birmingham were short of the Hibees’ valuation for Nisbet, which is believed to be closer to £3million.

Summer signing Nisbet is happy at Easter Road and has not pushed for a move, but is well aware that the talks are getting close to a level which would be acceptable to Hibs.

The Easter Road club, like every other team in the country, is feeling the pinch of Covid-19 and limited match incomes.

Record Sport revealed Millwall’s interest in Hibs defender Ryan Porteous earlier this week but their opening £1 million offer has been turned down.
