Birmingham City's Jefferson Montero set to sign two-year deal as Swansea City winger finds new club

Jefferson Montero's Swansea City contract expires in the summer.

The Ecuador international will see out the remaining days of his existing deal with the Swans on loan at Birmingham City.

Montero has featured 14 times in all competitions for the Blues so far this term, although he only completed a full 90-minute match for the club for the first time in his most recent outing against Coventry in the FA Cup.

And after a tough spell in the Midlands, it seems the 30-year-old could well be on the move once again once his temporary deal at St Andrew's comes to an end.

Journalist Reinaldo Romero claims Montero will move back to his home country in the summer to join LDU Quito.

Reports suggest he will sign a two-year contract with the club.

It comes after the wideman was at the centre of a bizarre transfer announcement last month.

His former club Independiente del Valle revealed that they had re-signed Fernando Guerrero, although Montero featured heavily in the video announcement.

Although the beginning of the video led many supporters to believe that it was Montero who was set for a return to the club.

Montero scored two goals in his 84 appearances for Swansea.
