Birmingham City offer for Hibs star Kevin Nisbet still on the table

Birmingham City's offer to sign Hibs striker Kevin Nisbet remains on the table this afternoon as the English Championship side stand firm on their bid of around £3m for the striker.

Hibs rejected City's advances yesterday after they upped their initial bid for the 23-year-old and last night the deal - which would see Nisbet quadruple his wages - looked dead and buried.

But Lanarkshire Live Sport understands Hibs have been given a final chance to accept the deal, believed to be worth between £2.6 and £3m.

The clock is ticking and a decision is needed in the next few hours.

The Edinburgh side are believed to be looking for a fee in the region of £3.5million for their prized asset.

But with no other clubs coming forward for the Cambuslang man and hopes of a bidding war failing to materialise, Hibs have to decide whether to now is the time to strike and take the substantial offer or take the gamble that they can sell Nisbet for a higher fee in the summer.

The club's record transfer fee is the £4.4m they received for Scott Brown when he left for Celtic in 2007.

Nisbet joined the Hibees from Dunfermline in July last year for a fee around £250,000.
