Birmingham City injury list in full ahead of Leeds United centenary clash

Leeds United are back in action this weekend as they look to round off their birthday celebrations in style against Birmingham City at Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa and the Whites would of course value all three vital points as they look to keep themselves firmly in the mix for automatic promotion places on Saturday.

Their opponents are without several names as they head north to West Yorkshire, with manager Pep Cloyet unable to call upon a number of players for the encounter.

LeedsLive takes a look at who will likely be sitting out of the Blues' trip up to Leeds.

Jefferson Montero

The Ecuador winger was forced off against Stoke City at the end of August with what was later revealed to be a thigh muscle strain that has kept him sidelined since.

There's still no scheduled date for his return with the club confirming a lay-off of several weeks for the 30-year-old Swansea loanee.

Maikel Kieftenbeld

The midfielder hasn't played since he was stretchered off against Leeds themselves back in April, when City handed United a major blow to their automatic promotion ambitions with a 1-0 win.

The Dutchman suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury, and expectations are that he will not return until Christmas at the earliest for the club.

Jonathan Grounds

The defender has been struggling with a calf problem in recent weeks but did make a return to action ahead of the international break for the under-23s side.

The 31-year-old could theoretically feature then against Leeds but still looks to be an outside bet to make the matchday squad.

Cheick Keita

Having returned to the club following a two-year spell on loan across Europe, the left-back is hoping to have a chance to prove himself under Clotet this term.

He has had an ankle injury to contend with recently but was named as 19th man against Wigan earlier this month, suggesting that his time is coming.
