Birmingham City handed double injury boost ahead of Nottingham Forest visit

Nottingham Forest will travel to St Andrew's to face Birmingham City on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

And the Reds will be in high spirit after their 3-1 win at Barnsley in midweek gave new head coach Steve Cooper his first victory.

Cooper and Co will be hopeful of continuing that momentum against a struggling Blues team on Saturday.

Birmingham lost 2-0 at QPR on Tuesday to continue a poor run of form.

However, Blues head coach Lee Bowyer is set to have a key duo available for the Forest clash.

Left-back Kristian Pedersen has been out of action after picking up a hamstring injury, but should be available for selection on Saturday.

Bowyer told BirminghamLive : "Kristian had a little hamstring injury and if we are lucky he might be available for Forest, but we will analyse that and won’t be taking any risks because we have the international break after that and then another two weeks."

Defender Marc Roberts is also fit to face Forest.

The 31-year-old was taken off in the 3-0 defeat to Peterborough, missing the Preston game but returning for QPR.

Bowyer added: "His finger bent the wrong way and all sorts. He will be OK, he just can’t take a throw-in now."

However, the Blues will be left without the suspended Gary Gardner, who is due to return for the Midlands derby against West Brom.
