Birmingham City boss Lee Bowyer rages at players after 'soft' 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest

Birmingham City boss Lee Bowyer let rip into his players following a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest.

Goals from Lewis Grabban, Ryan Yates and Djed Spence put the Reds well into the ascendancy, and Steve Cooper' s side were rarely threatened by the hosts.

The result means Forest are now unbeaten in four matches and have won their last three matches away from the City Ground.

Speaking to BirminghamLive, Bowyer directed fierce words towards his players.

"It’s fine margins, I have been saying that over the last few games, we are the team that starts on top and creating chances,” the head coach fumed.

"But we are not taking the chances, or the ‘keeper making great saves, we are hitting the post. The first goal in these games is so important and we just can’t get it at the moment.

"Again, they go and score against the run of play, same as QPR the other night. But when we are in possession, for me we looked just too soft.

"We are conceding the same goals every game and that’s something I have got to fix. In possession, again I thought there was some great play, we have had 18 shots, nine on target and we ain’t scored a goal.

"We just need a little break somewhere but you have to earn that bit of luck. Forest looked hungrier than we did at times defensively. That’s why they kept a clean sheet and we didn’t."

He added: "Every time the ball goes up to Jutkiewicz I see someone fighting with him and manhandling him – and he didn’t get a foul which he should have done every time because it was a foul every time.

"But putting that aside I see Grabban just bringing balls down with ease. I don’t see Jutkiewicz getting ball down with ease. It’s too easy.

"The third goal is exactly the same goal as the second goal the other night and a goal that we conceded the game before that.

"We are showing them the mistakes, we are working on the mistakes and we still making the same ones again.

"I have been here long enough, I am guessing now this is the reason why this football club has been down at the bottom for the last three or four years – because you defend like that, you are going to be down the bottom. The last few games, it’s happened too many times and I have got to fix it."
