Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday have bids accepted for former Bristol City loanee - report

Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday have both had offers accepted for West Brom winger Jonathan Leko, according to a report.

The former Bristol City loanee, who spent half of the 2017/18 season on loan at Ashton Gate from the Baggies, is set for a permanent move away after West Brom's promotion to the Premier League.

He spent last season on loan at Charlton, where his five goals and four assists weren't enough to save the Addicks from relegation to League One.

And Slaven Bilic has now deemed the England U20 winger surplus to requirements at the Hawthorns and both the Blues and the Owls have had a bid of £1m accepted for Leko, reports the Telegraph's John Percy.

After making his Premier League debut at West Brom in 2015/16, Leko has since struggled for game time under various Baggies bosses and now finds himself looking for a club elsewhere.

It's likely the decision on his next move will now be up to Leko after the bids were accepted. Sheffield Wednesday will start the season on -12 points, after a deduction was imposed following a legal case brought by the EFL and that could sway his decision.

He has represented the England youth sides from U16 to U20, but has so far struggled to reach his potential and will look to change that upon a permanent move away from the Midlands.

Leko played 11 times for Bristol City during the 2017/18 season in the Championship, making one assist but didn't play a part in the memorable Carabao Cup run.

He was recalled by West Brom in January of that season due a lack of game time. He was replaced by Ryan Kent in January, and we all know what happened there.
