The Queensway Tunnel that connects Liverpool with Wirral is set to close this Sunday as a major event comes to Liverpool.
The Liverpool to Chester Bike Ride is happening this weekend, and that will put the route out of action for ten hours for motorists.
Drivers won't be able to travel from Birkenhead to Liverpool using the tunnel from 6am to 4pm, while drivers coming from Liverpool will have to use other routes from 6am to 1pm.
Cyclists on the ride will kick off from Liverpool's Old Haymarket and go straight into the tunnel and then head south through Wirral to Chester.
It covers a range of distances from five miles to 100 miles and is non-competitive.
This year is the 26th time the ride is taking place.
Its website says: "A key feature of the event is the unique opportunity to cycle traffic-free through the Mersey Tunnel and this alone contributes to so many participants returning year after year."
The full times that the tunnel will be closed on Sunday are:
from 6am to 1pm on Sunday 7 July closed in both directions from 1pm to 4pm on Sunday 7 July closed from Birkenhead to Liverpool
There will also be closures next weekend due to the Liverpool Nightrider event, although it's likely fewer motorists will be affected due to the times of the closure.
That event will involve the tunnel being closed:
from 10.30pm to 11.30pm on Saturday 13 July from Liverpool to Birkenhead only
from 1am to 4am on Sunday 14 July from Birkenhead to Liverpool only
