The Birkenhead Tunnel will be closed every night this week for maintenance.
Merseytravel said the Queensway Tunnel will be shut to drivers each night from 9pm and will reopen at 6.30am the next morning. Work began on Monday, March 20 and will finish on Friday, March 24.
The tunnel is closed so workers can undertake "essential maintenance work". During the closure of the Birkenhead Tunnel, the Kingsway Tunnel will remain fully open in both directions.

The timings of the closure for each day, is as follows:
- From 9pm on Monday, March 20 until 6.30am on Tuesday, March 21;
- From 9pm on Tuesday, March 21 until 6.30am on Wednesday, March 22;
- From 9pm on Wednesday, March 22 until 6.30am on Thursday, March 23;
- From 9pm on Thursday, March 23 until 6.30am on Friday, March 24.
