Birds pestering golfer results in hilarious video

A golfer in Australia had the misfortune of hitting a drive down the middle of a fairway where two shorebirds were protecting two young chicks in a nest. Fortunately a friend caught the encounter on video, and it’s hilarious.

The encounter occurred on Aug. 16 at Royal Queensland Golf Course in Brisbane and Alex Ross captured it on video, which was released by ViralHog on Friday.

“The golfers are a few of my friends,” Ross told USA Today/For The Win Outdoors. “The one being chased is Nathan. I didn’t get chased. Two of our balls went on the right of the fairway, and the other two went up the middle where the plovers were nesting. I couldn’t stop laughing; you can kind of hear it in the background of the videos.”

Nathan took the brunt of the attacks, though neither he nor anyone else actually got struck by the dive-bombing birds, Ross told For The Win Outdoors.

“He couldn’t believe it happened on his best drive of the day,” Ross said. “Right in the middle of the fairway.”

The encounter was unsettling for both golfers, as evidenced as to what happened next.

“[They] were so scared they stuffed up their next three shots,” Ross told For The Win Outdoors.”
