Birds Eye working with Iceland to find a new Captain Birdseye

Fish Finger specialists Birds Eye are working together with frozen food giant Iceland to run a nationwide competition to find a new Captain Birdseye - with an emphasis on celebrating shoppers across the nation who are frozen food savvy.

Rather than a Captain of the high seas, Birds Eye and Iceland want to celebrate the nation’s real-life household heroes.

They are looking for savvy shoppers who use frozen food to create delicious meals, save money and reduce household food waste.

One winner will replace the iconic Captain Birdseye on thousands of packs of Birds Eye Fish Fingers in Iceland stores across the UK later this year.

Steve Challouma, UK General Manager at Birds Eye, said: “As the two leading brands in frozen food, it made sense to team up to inspire and educate consumers on the benefits of shopping frozen.

"Through recognising some of the nation’s smartest shoppers and sharing their tips, we hope to pass on valuable knowledge and advice for anyone trying to get the most out of their food shop.”

Richard Walker, Managing Director at Iceland, said: “We’ve been passionate about the benefits of frozen food for decades, and frozen has never been more relevant than today.

"Families are looking to reduce both their household spending and food waste, and we believe that simple switches to frozen food can help to make a real difference, without any need to compromise on taste or quality.

"We’re hopeful that this campaign will help us to find the nation’s frozen food heroes – and encourage more and more consumers to choose frozen.”

Shoppers can nominate themselves or a friend or family member by submitting the nominee’s savvy shopping tips and tricks to reduce food bills or combat food waste from today.

Enter here for your chance to win. Entries close on Thursday, January 29, and the limited-edition packs will be sold exclusively at Iceland later this year.

As well as the chance to appear on-pack, the winner will also receive £100 of shopping vouchers to spend at Iceland and a year’s supply of Birds Eye Fish Fingers.
