Birds Eye chicken nuggets sold in Ireland urgently recalled over fears they contain plastic pieces

A batch of chicken nuggets sold across Ireland is being recalled over fears they contain pieces of plastic.

Birds Eye Ireland is recalling its 790gram packet of 50 Chicken Nuggets with Golden Wholegrain.

The batch is being taken off shelves across Ireland as the nuggets may be unsafe to eat.

A statement from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland said: "Birds Eye is recalling the above batch of its 50 Chicken Nuggets with Golden Wholegrain because it may contain small pieces of plastic.

"The presence of plastic may make this product unsafe to eat.

"Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in affected retail store(s) that are selling this product. No other batch codes or Birds Eye products are known to be affected."

The product has a batch code of L9208 Z V124, and a best-before date of October 2020.

The FSAI added: "The product may contain small pieces of plastic which may make the product unsafe to eat."
