Birds Eye chicken nuggets recalled over plastic fears

Frozen food giant Birds Eye has issued a recall for bags of chicken nuggets amid fears come could be contaminated with plastic.

The company is recalling 13,000 packs of nuggets and anyone who has bought one is asked not to eat them, but to return the pack to the shop it was bought from for a full refund.

The product recall applies to Birds Eye's 790g packs of 50 golden wholegrain chicken nuggets with the batch codes "L9208 W V124", "L9208 X V124", "L9208 Y V124" or "L9208 Z V124".

They have a best before date on the back of October 2020.

If vou can't get back to the shop, post the batch code from the pack to Birds Eye Limited, Freepost ADM3939, London SW1A 1YS.

The nuggets are sold in all major supermarkets, except Tesco, for between £3 and £4.

A spokesman for Birds Eye told The Sun: "The safety of everyone who enjoys and loves our products is of the utmost importance to us.

"As soon as we became aware of a potential situation with our chicken nuggets, we immediately investigated and took precautionary action.

"This particular batch may contain small pieces of clear plastic due to an isolated manufacturing fault and we simply do not want to risk people consuming it."
