Bird Box Barcelona clip leaves fans 'unable to sleep' as Sandra Bullock film gets spinoff

Netflix were left feeling terrified as they watched the chaos of 2018's Birdbox unfold for a second time.

The original movie saw Sandra Bullock take on a mysterious entity that would make you kill yourself if you saw it. While surviving in the post-apocalyptic world, Sandra's character has to protect herself and her two adopted children as they travel to safety.

The sequel movie will follow a new family as they navigate the streets of Barcelona, Spain following the arrival of the murderous but invisible creatures.

The Netflix synopsis reads: "From the producers of the global phenomenon, Bird Box, comes BIRD BOX BARCELONA, an expansion of the film that riveted audiences in 2018.

Fans will watch a family in Barcelona attempt to survive the "intense threat" (Netflix)

“After a mysterious force decimates the world’s population, Sebastian must navigate his own survival journey through the desolate streets of Barcelona.

"As he forms uneasy alliances with other survivors and they try to escape the city, an unexpected and even more sinister threat grows.”

Fans took to the comments underneath the trailer to share their excitement over the "unexpected" sequel.

"The 1st bird box movie was intense for me because of the kids I mean to survive with two kids with blindfolds on eyes is freaking intense," one wrote.

A second put: "Finally sequel to a world ending event but on the other side of the world, hopefully with different story point suitable for Europe."

"Anotherrrrr??? Omg I'm excited!! I cried watching the first one," another typed.

A fourth added: "Oh God I already can't sleep thinking about this, the first one messed me up."

Producer Dylan Clark clarified that the new addition is "not a prequel" but is in fact a chance for audiences to see how people survived the "intense treat" in an "iconic city."

The film is "not a prequel" says producer Dylan (NETFLIX)

"The events that we see Malorie/Sandra Bullock endure in the original Bird Box are happening at the same time that Sebastian/Mario Casas is going through his journey," he told Entertainment Weekly.

"Being in Barcelona gave us a chance to see how surviving this intense threat in an iconic city poses different challenges."
