Bipartisan lawmakers unveil detailed $908B coronavirus relief plan

A bipartisan group of lawmakers on Wednesday released a detailed outline of their $908 billion coronavirus stimulus proposal, according to a copy of the draft legislation obtained by Axios.

Why it matters: The bipartisan proposal includes an extension of unemployment insurance programs by 16 weeks, which is not included in Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin's newly announced $916 billion plan.

  • Mnuchin pitched the plan to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday and walked the White House through the details over the phone.

What they're saying: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell rebuked Democrats on Wednesday and accused them of trying to "kill any compromise," after Pelosi rejected the White House's proposed $916 billion plan and said the bipartisan plan was the best path forward.
