New biodegradable library cards are being rolled out across Trafford.
The council is introducing eco-friendly cards across its 12 libraries.
The cards are being brought int to replace the plastic versions.

Town hall chiefs are trying to cut down on the use of single-use plastics.
Later this year, any new library members requesting a card will be given a biodegradable one.
Eventually, plastic cards will be naturally phased out.
Trafford libraries have also been rolling out environmentally focused children’s activities including making seedbombs, birdfeeders, bike decorations and a themed summer reading challenge.
Full details of the reading challenge can be found here.

Coun Liz Patel, Trafford council’s executive member for culture and leisure, said: “Trafford council has committed itself to supporting a greener and more sustainable future for the borough.
“We have now decided to extend that policy to our library service later this year by introducing eco-friendly cards to new members. It is extremely important that we all adopt a more sustainable lifestyle and cut down on the use of plastic in everyday life.”
