'Bingo' challenge money saving trend sweeps the nation

For many, saving money is something they'd rather avoid just after the festive season.

All the spending over Christmas and New Year adds up meaning recouping any savings can be hard work.

A new challenge, however, could be the key to banishing money woes for 2020.

The savings game is similar to bingo and has taken the country by storm, Manchester Evening News reports.

Metro created a 'weekly savings fund' card with 52 squares, each containing a different number.

Choose a different square each week and save the amount of money noted in that square.

Amounts range from £1 to £52.

To make sure you're doing the challenge as efficiently as possible, Metro suggests picking a day of the week where you commit to putting the money aside, and sticking to that day.

If you manage to do it for an entire year and tick all of the amounts off, you should have a very healthy £1378 saved at the end of it.

Best of luck!
