Bingo challenge could help you save up £1,400 this year

Christmas is over - and another one is on the way. Fortunately it's a long way off yet, which gives you plenty of time to save.

And if you have trouble putting away a little each week, there's a challenge that could help.

You save as little as £1 a week - and by the end you've got almost £1,400, reports the MEN .

The challenge, originally designed by the  Metro , is based on a game of bingo.

All you need is a piece of paper or chart with 52 squares on it - each with a number between 1 and 52.

Each week you pick a square - and put aside the amount of money in that square, crossing it off as you go.

So weeks when there isn't much to spare you could save £1 or £2 - week's when you are flusher you would put away £52 or £51.

To make sure you're doing the challenge as efficiently as possible, Metro suggests picking a day of the week where you commit to putting the money aside, and sticking to that day.

If you manage to cross off every square then by the end of the week you would have £1,378 saved up.

That's Christmas 2020 sorted!
