Bing Crosby’s loved ones hope his most famous hit White Christmas can finally top the UK charts over 40 years after his death.
The classic song is on Bing at Christmas, a new album being released by widow Kathryn and their children, Harry, Mary and Nathaniel, next month.
Bing’s original vocals are set to arrangements by The London Symphony Orchestra.
Kathryn, 85, said: “Hearing Bing’s voice with these completely new, beautifully recorded, orchestral accompaniments makes it seem as though he’s back after all these years. It’s magic.”
The crooner’s 1942 Decca version of White Christmas is the world’s best-selling single, with 50 million sales and 1.8 billion online streams.
But it has never reached No1 in the UK charts and the Crosby family are said to be hopeful that will change this year.
Bing at Christmas also has new arrangements of Winter Wonderland, It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas, and Little Drummer Boy.
He recorded the latter with David Bowie just a month before he died in 1977.
Despite its ageless charm, Bing's track has tough competition for Christmas No1 from Robbie Williams and George Michael this year.
