Bin truck caught on CCTV knocking rubbish all over the street before driving off

A refuse lorry is caught on CCTV as it turns round, knocks over rubbish bins.. and then leaves.

Angry residents had to get the garbage scattered over the road back in the bins as it was due for collection later that day.

It is thought the lorry, which was collecting garden waste, had made a wrong turn into the cul-de-sac.

Electrician Gavin Peaker, 36, was told by neighbours about the incident when he returned from work and checked CCTV cameras he had recently installed in Longwood, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

He said: “I rewound and saw all the destruction happening. I could not believe it.

"They reversed it into one [bin]and found it a bit tight to get around the corner.

“As they left they knocked another six or seven over. They must have noticed.

“It destroyed some of the bins. There was rubbish all down the street.

"They were from a different service, for garden waste. They did not collect anything.

“My wife spoke to someone from the council and they were lost for words.”

Kirklees Council was contacted for comment.
