Bin lorry drivers wanted in Liverpool and here's how much you could earn

A bin wagon driver is required in Liverpool - and you might be pleasantly surprised by the amount of pay the job attracts.

Whether they're employed directly by the council or contracted in through a private company, binmen collect the rubbish left outside your house week in, week out.

The job advert for the current position states that the candidate "must be experienced or have driven a rear steer vehicle before."

Although the pay is not specified, the ECHO reported last year that starting salaries for drivers vary from £21,500 to around £25,000, depending on where you work.

If you're looking for work in Liverpool and beyond you can view vacancies here:

These salaries may well have gone up since then - for example, Wirral's bin workers secured a pay rise back in May after voting overwhelmingly in favour of strike action as part of a dispute with council contractor Biffa.

Unite members voted to accept the offer of a 3.5% pay increase, which was backdated to April 2019.

In Liverpool and St Helens, bin workers are employed directly by their respective councils, while Knowsley has an "in-house" waste collection team employed by the council.
